About LIFE

The LIFE Programme is a financial instrument of the European Commission aimed at supporting innovative and sustainable improvements in environmental quality and climate action.

The main objective of the LIFE Programme is to contribute to the implementation, development, and updating of European Union (EU) environmental and climate policy by co-financing projects that align with the programme’s objectives and deliver added value at the EU level. The programme is governed by Regulation (EU) No 1293/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the establishment of a Programme for the Environment and Climate Action (LIFE).

During the LIFE Programme funding period from 2025 to 2027, the total available investment amounts to €2.3 billion.

NB! National co-financing is also available for Latvian organisations to support the implementation of approved projects.
